Opportunity Snapshot

In this role you will leverage your leadership and management skills across a variety of operational areas to make an impact over both the short and long term. As Vice President at one of our Everest campuses, you'll contribute in all aspects of our business, from curriculum and academic standards to budget management to responding to student inquiries.

We think you'll find Corinthian Colleges a welcome change from your current situation. If you're coming from a public or charter school, you'll enjoy greater access to the resources you need. If you're in the hospitality industry, you'll leave evening and weekend hours behind. If it's retail, no longer will you spread yourself thin across multiple locations. You'll join a company that is growing even as others are cutting back, and our ongoing growth will create new opportunities for proven leaders.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have proven your business savvy and leadership abilities by running a significant business or educational unit for at least five years, perhaps as a Principal or Regional Manager. You will have a track record of success managing multiple functional areas simultaneously and familiarity with budgets and P&Ls.

What's in It for You

Broad impact, solid resources -- you will provide leadership to multiple departments and a large number of employees. You may respond to student issues in the morning and then spend the afternoon helping senior management prepare budgets. And we're investing in our campuses; for example, in the past five years alone, we've spent more than $230 million on facility upgrades, creating modern learning centers in many locations.

Career opportunities -- we're projected to open several new campuses in the immediate future, with more to come, and we'll need proven leaders to step up.

No slowdown here -- in fact, challenging economic times often motivate people to go back to school. Our revenue in fiscal year 2009 was $1.3 billion, up almost 20% over 2008. We are estimating revenues of $1.58 to $1.60 billion for 2010. Student enrollment grew 20% last year, and we had 86,088 students as of June 30, 2009.

Strong mission, dynamic environment -- you'll find a strong sense of pride, across CCi, in helping students build more successful lives for themselves. If you haven't been on a college campus lately, we think you'll find the active, energetic atmosphere very motivating.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and discretionary bonus program we offer an excellent benefit package including an employee stock purchase program, comprehensive healthcare program, a 401(k) plan, and more.

The Campus Vice President Role

Reporting to the Campus President you will be involved in multiple areas including some combination (depending on the campus) of Admissions, Student Financing, Education, Career Services, Auditing and Compliance, and Operations/Campus Management. Each area may have 20 to 40 staff members. In some areas you'll "pick up the ball and run with it," while in others you may spearhead change initiatives. A sampling of your more specific activities:
  • Directing the activities of several departments through subordinate supervisors.
  • Handling student inquiries and problems related to education program entrance and eligibility requirements, curricula and academic standards.
  • Conducting audits to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations.
  • Conferring with management to prepare annual fiscal budgets for various areas of responsibility.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities.
  • And more.

Keys to Success

To excel in this position and beyond, you will be highly motivated to produce results, and open to learning new skills, processes, and tools. In addition, you will:
  • Demonstrate initiative and be ready to jump in and engage in the give-and-take dynamics of a talented and assertive team.
  • Focus on full-picture solutions, not just the next task on the list.
  • Balance an analytical and data-driven approach with an appreciation for the uniquely human quality of our mission.
  • Leverage your influencing skills and not just your authority.
  • Achieve your goals independently while keeping your supervisor in the loop.
  • Be resourceful in a lean culture: our top people are those who make the most of what they have to make their area even better.
  • Bring a high-energy approach, sense of urgency, and solid focus to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced organization.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
