Position Details

As the Director of Student Services for our South Plainfield, NJ campus, you will be joining one of Corinthian's fastest growing centers. We just added one of the most popular new Trade Programs to our curriculum and are about to complete a major renovation of our facilities.

Our student population is approaching 500, and we take pride in treating each student as an individual, not an ID number. In keeping with this philosophy, our Student Services department plays a proactive role in student life, providing wide-ranging support from one-on-one counseling, to connecting students with community resources, to campus-wide orientation and community-building events.

As Director of Student Services, you will be responsible for the retention of our student population, helping them overcome any obstacles and keeping them on the path to graduation. In addition, you will strive to build a Student Services department that is a visible and central part of campus life. Specifically, your responsibilities will be to:
  • Assist the Campus President in the area of Student Services.
  • Development of the IEP, Student Activities, Graduation, APEX Program, Re-entries, Online Registrations and Student Activities
  • Achieve campus student retention budget in collaboration with the Academic Dean.
  • Provide oversight of the On-line Program. Responsible for meeting budgeted on-line registrations goals. Manage the On-Line Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Campus Institutional Effectiveness Plan and process.
  • Responsible for the oversight for the ATB program to ensure that campus goals are met to include retention, completion of high school/GED achievement. Responsible for the collection and tracking of documentations of ATB program.
  • Oversee student activities and events to enhance the student's on-campus experience. Manage Student Services Coordinator.
  • Ensure that overall student satisfaction levels are at 85% or greater as measured by Student Wave. Coordinate bi-annual administration of Wave Survey.
  • Participate in weekly retention meetings. Review all re-entry, and on-line students who are at risk. Make recommendations for implementing strategies to retain at risk students.
  • Direct the campus re-entry program to meet enrollment and retention goals of re-entered students. Responsible for managing the Re-Entry Coordinator.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the graduation ceremony.
  • Oversee the Tutoring Program.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Our Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Solid (3-5 years) of relevant experience, e.g. in student services, academic advising, social service or counseling. We have a strong preference for student retention experience in a for-profit educational institution.
  • Experience working hands-on with students/young adults in an advisory capacity.
  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm for the mission of student services.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
