The following description is quite detailed. Our intention is to provide insight into the opportunity so that you can make a well-informed choice.

Opportunity Snapshot

It's time to ask yourself if you truly love your work.

Whether you're looking for a career change, or just want work to be enjoyable again, consider this for a rewarding career path: as an Instructor with Corinthian Colleges, you will have the opportunity to leverage your professional experience to help our students achieve their dreams.

"Achieving dreams" sounds like a lofty goal, but at Corinthian Colleges, that's what we do -- help people achieve their dreams by giving them the skills they need to be successful in a wide variety of careers -- and connecting them with employers upon graduation. It's the perfect mix of high ideals and real-world practicality.

Corinthian Colleges is a young and dynamic organization that has quickly grown to become one of North America's largest post secondary education companies. CCi operates more than 100 campuses across the continent as well as a rapidly growing online education division.

The Everest Institute at our Brighton, MA campus has full time and part-time openings for:
  1. Medical Assisting Instructors
  2. Medical Administrative Assisting Instructors

Our Requirements

  • To be qualified, you will have held a position within the discipline you will teach for the past five years at least.*
  • Certificate in your specialty, Associates degree, Bachelor's degree, Masters degree and/or PhD.
  • An engaging communication and presentation style.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
* Prior teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Corinthian Colleges will provide in-depth training for all new Instructors.

More About Your Role

You'll start our INSPIRE! training program, which will provide you with proven techniques to fully engage students in the learning process. Since the majority of our students live independently of their parents, INSPIRE! focuses on how adults learn, how they are motivated, and effective classroom management.

These teaching methods are a natural fit with our program curricula. In most of our larger programs, we use customized textbooks that provide job-specific course content and a range of supplemental learning exercises. In our Medical Assisting and Nursing programs, for example, students not only read about how to check vital signs, they practice the performance of vital signs in a lab setting.

After training, you will be ready for the classroom: you'll co-present with a peer for a transitional period and then have the ongoing support of the Department Chair. As a fully-fledged Instructor, you'll spend the majority of your time (about 95%) in front of students, with a class size averaging about 20, with a maximum of 24. Your other general duties will include:
  • Maintaining a teaching assignment for each module.
  • Planning course instruction based upon an approved syllabus/outline provided
  • Administering and grading examinations
  • Actively working to maintain retention in all classes taught, by maintaining accurate attendance records daily, calling all students who are absent, and recording absentee information in roster after each class meeting and communicating attendance "concerns" to the Program Chair or Academic Dean.
Since you will be stepping out of a practical role in your field, we'll help you keep your skills current by sponsoring continuing education credits and external learning opportunities, such as national conferences.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being an Instructor at Corinthian Colleges is that you will see the fruits of your labor. You won't be left wondering "whatever happened to that student..." because we place such a strong emphasis on preparing and transitioning our students into careers. Here, you will share in their entire education journey -- from their first days on campus, to their "a ha" learning moments, to their joy at graduation, and finally, to their confident progression into a career when they land their first job.

Keys to Success

Everyone remembers at least one great teacher from the past, and typically that memorable teacher is the one who built strong connections with creative teaching methods. That's what INSPIRE! is all about - inspiring students with a passion to achieve through engaging classroom activities and curricula. To be an outstanding Instructor at Corinthian, you will:
  • Bring a high level of energy to your classroom.
  • Enjoy getting involved in hands-on learning.
  • Be a supportive and caring leader for your students.
  • Remain committed to excellence in your professional field.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, we look forward to hearing from you!

We are an equal opportunity employer. EOE M/F/D/V
